The Research & Development Specialist will be one of the founding team members of Walmart Canada’s brand-new innovation team. As a founding member of our dynamic Innovation team, a Research and Development Specialist drives the analysis into emerging user needs and preferences to inform the innovation of solutions and product offerings to be developed and designed by the team. Working with user groups, academic leaders, industry thought leaders, and ecosystem influencers, the incumbent brings robust methodology to their research and delivers comprehensive analysis and findings to support product development.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Build a strong and effective working relationship with both internal and external customers to understand business and user needs and drivers to ensure highest level of commitment to obtain customer engagement
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert within the Innovation team with respect to research methodology
  • Support innovative product and services development assignments in a timely and efficient manner
  • Review/Prepare reports outline research analysis, findings, applications and recommendations
  • Develop and engage a community of thought leaders to develop research scope for a range of digital products and services
  • Be constantly aware of our competitive landscape, market trends that influence consumer behavior, seek innovation ideas beyond our geography
  • Be a keen observer of user behavior to inform your insight for data application to respond to user needs and wants
  • Design end to end research methodology to ensure user preferences and business needs are addressed in all research phases

Job Requirements:

  • Proven ability to conduct qualitative research and ethnographic interviews, resulting in net new knowledge formulation
  • Proficiency in Adobe XB and Photoshop an asset
  • Bachelors’ degree in Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology or any related field of Product Design preferred
  • 2-3 years’ experience in research and development, with a focus in product development, from early ideation to launch
