Job Responsibilities:

  • Write and prepare manuscripts for peer review and publication
  • Aid in the preparation of research grant proposals and establishing collaborations with clinicians and industry partners
  • Prepare and implement study protocols, case report forms and standard operating procedures as well as manage all documentation related to clinical research projects
  • Perform regular audits on all clinical trial documents, update central clinical files, and evaluate all reports
  • Help to develop new concepts for clinical ‘imaging’ projects and prototypes
  • Assist with preparation of scientific reports for meetings/conferences/presentations
  • Arrange and oversee trial site visits and resolve site-associated issues
  • Aid in the supervision of research personnel and students employed by the lab
  • Aid in training of clinical collaborators involved in studies with the lab
  • Coordinate longitudinal scheduling of procedures with the research team, assure project milestones are met and project completion within the planned timeframe, and maintain accuracy in process
  • Oversee all ethics submissions/renewals/amendments and other regulatory applications (Health Canada, FDA)
  • Serve as the liaison between PI, Co-Investigators, study clinicians and nurses, lab research staff and industry partners, and lead regular meetings to ensure all individuals are up to date on all aspects of the clinical trials
  • Develop recruitment methods and recruitment documents (informed consent forms, study introduction letters, prescription forms)
  • Ensure compliance of all clinical research studies with institutional and external regulatory and research ethics agencies
  • Identify potential problems and troubleshoot barriers to study conduct and procedures
  • Collect outcome data, monitor data management, and perform preliminary data cleaning, analysis, and interpretation
  • Organize day-to-day study procedures, and assure adherence to study protocol and compliance with GCP/ICH guidelines by research team
  • Screen and enroll participants into clinical trials

Job Requirements:

  • At least three (3) to five (5) years of clinical/and or professional expiernece
  • Knowledge of research principles, research regulations (ICH/GCP) and guidelines
  • At least two (2) to three (3) years of supervisor/management experience
  • Experience with REB and other regulatory submissions
  • Previous multi-site clinical research coordination preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • At least two (2) to three (3) years of research contract budget management
  • At minimum, a completion of a bachelor’s degree program, or recognized equivalent in Biomedical Science, and or PhD or MD preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and with team members from different disciplines and with varying degree of technical expertise
  • Knowledge of funding agencies and grants application procedures
  • Knowledge of computer software such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint
  • Excellent skills in writing and reviewing research grants and scientific manuscripts (primarily of clinical nature)
  • Experience using statistical analysis and data management software applications preferred
  • Certification as a Clinical Research Professional (e.g. ACRP or SOCRA) required
