Testing: Physical Ability and POSTEntry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB)
T-score of 42.0 or higher

Physical Ability Test- Candidates must complete four timed pass/fail exercises to participate in the written test. The exercises consist of a 5 1/2′ wall climb, 99 yard obstacle course, 150 pound body drag, and 500 yard run. Candidate participation will end at the time an exercise is failed.
When the Police Trainee position re-opens, you will receive an email notification from Human Resources, instructing you to apply. It will also contain information about the Trainee Orientation Workshops that we offer. We hold several of these workshops prior to the test date. At the workshop, you will have the opportunity to practice climbing the 5 ½’ wall and you will be able to practice the “dummy drag” (more information about this will be given when the Trainee position re-opens). Also, there are a variety of study guides available online and at the book stores, to help you prepare for the California POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery “PELLETB” exam.

Job Requirements:

Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
Graduation from an accredited United States high school, possession of a GED certificate, possession of a California High School Proficiency certificate, or possession of a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
Must be at least 20 years of age at the time of application and 21 years of age by time of appointment.
Must be a citizen of the United States or a permanent alien who has applied for citizenship prior to applying for the position of Police Officer.
Must successfully complete a background investigation, which shall include a polygraph and psychological examination, and a fingerprint clearance.
Must be able to pass a physical examination, which includes a drug screen, administered by the City Physician. Vision requirements are 20/100 uncorrected; 20/30 corrected. Color blindness will be cause for rejection. Hearing must be within normal range — 5/5.
