Job/Position DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Communicable Disease (CD) Program Manager, performs advanced investigative and consultative epidemiological work for the TB Program. Develops, monitors and improves surveillance and reporting procedures. Conducts epidemiological studies, performs data analysis, and interprets and disseminates results. Monitors program performance measures to ensure compliance with state and national standards. Incorporates TB Genotyping Information Management System (TBGIMS) data into surveillance activities. Completes TB Cohort Review summary report and submits quarterly reports. Serves as a consultant to health professionals and the general public on TB and other public health matters in the region. Assists in the training of Public Health Region (PHR) 8 staff. Prepares public health information, training material, and investigative tools for disease surveillance, quality assurance and investigation. Works with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work other-than-normal business hours to respond to public health emergencies, including but not limited to disease outbreaks, natural/man-made disaster response, and/or to participate in public awareness events such as health fairs or screenings. May provide team leadership as directed by the CD Program Manager.Essential Job FunctionsEJF 1 – 45% – TB Epidemiology and SurveillanceInvestigates TB and latent TB infection cases. Investigates, scans and files TB surveillance reports and patientsand#146; clinical records and monitors and improves surveillance procedures through the development of databases and reports. Abstracts, reviews, and interprets medical information. Collects data, develops databases, enters data into electronic systems, scans patient files and assures quality data entry. Provides oversight of data entered and maintained by Contact Investigator and Surveillance Coordinator. Completes investigations of disease reports, consults with physicians, laboratories, hospital personnel, and members of the public. Provides guidance and reports to various community stakeholders and the general public about TB prevention, investigation, control, and treatment. Produces reports based on TB surveillance data, TBGIMS, THISIS and other external and local electronic systems. Using these reports, works with TB Nurse team leads, correctional

facilities liaison, Binational TB program coordinator, and contact investigation coordinator to determine linkages among cases/suspects and provide quality and updated data for each patient. Initiates and conducts epidemiological studies related to the prevention and control of TB. Develops databases for tracking of cases and suspects. Tracks interjurisdictional TB notice (IJN) forms for community patients. In collaboration with the Corrections Coordinator, maintains database of IJNs and updates accordingly. Obtains updated information from receiving jurisdictions with regard to IJNs or other patients as needed. Collaborate with contact investigation coordinator to maintain a database for patients reported with LTBI from the community. Assesses data collected by contact investigation coordinator to determine completeness of data, accuracy of data, and whether expansion of contact investigation is warranted. Completes incident reports for contact investigations and obtains additional information from TB program with regard to the incident report as needed.
