Midwest Republican Senator is seeking an experienced, professional and dependable Legislative Assistant focused on banking policy. Primary duties include developing and planning legislative initiatives within area of professional expertise. Typical responsibilities are acting as the Senator’s representative with constituents, special interest groups, other Senate offices and federal agencies on legislative matters, formulating legislative initiatives within his/her substantive areas, briefing the Senator for floor work, committee work, work in the state and outside Senate-related activities and authoring background reports and memoranda. Applicants must have ability to communicate effectively with Senator and office staff, ability to represent the Senator and speak on behalf of the office, participating meaningfully in legislative strategy and policy discussions and ability to work long and unpredictable hours.
