Job Description:

We’re offering an exciting opportunity to be part of the gardens team at Blickling Estate as a Gardener. We’re looking for someone with gardening experience, a creative eye and collaborative working skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• You’ll be responsible for day to day management of volunteers, working with the garden team to maintain our highly important garden. You’ll work to ensure high standards and that the distinctive specialness of place is preserved. Much of the job will be outside and hands-on with the team. You’ll work together to ensure we monitor and develop new sustainable ways of working with the environment and conservation at the core of what we do.
• You’ll also work closely with other departments across the estate to ensure a quality experience for visitors. There will be opportunities for project management and close working with the countryside team to improve nature conservation. We are also entering a phase of planning and development for the long-term future of the gardens which you will contribute to.
• Some weekend and bank holiday working is a requirement of this role. We anticipate this being at least one weekend day a week and participating in our Property Incident Coordinator rota.

Job Requirements:

• Experience working as part of a team.
• Good organisational and communication skills
• An good understanding of horticultural techniques and plant identification
• Experience of using garden machinery
• A love for sharing your knowledge and experience with volunteers, staff and team
• A desire to work collaboratively and creatively
• An understanding of Health & Safety and sustainable garden practices
• RHS Level 2 or equivalent in practical gardening/horticulture
