Job Description:
The Stages Branch of the Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate (SMA) at the Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF), is seeking a quality assurance engineer. The incumbent is responsible for aspects of safety, quality engineering and assurance, risk management, development, design, test, and evaluation of flight hardware and component systems, associated with the Space Launch System (SLS) Exploration Upper Stage (EUS).
Job Requirements:
In addition to the basic education requirement (shown below), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level experience in quality engineering on human space flight hardware, during all life-cycles of design, production, test, and operations; developing safety performance measures and applying criteria and techniques such as safety audits, assessments, inspections, trend analysis, and sampling to monitor safety performance and to identify and eliminate hazards and achieve an acceptable level of risk. To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level experience in quality engineering on human space flight hardware, during all life-cycles of design, production, test, and operations; experience conducting quality assurance on aerospace vehicles; implementing policies and procedures for oversight and insight of prime contractors for a human spaceflight program; experience working within a production management system.
