Job Description:

Our Rapid Transit, Commercial Management Office is seeking a senior level professional to join our team as a Commercial Management Specialist. This role is critical to our high performing team. As a Commercial Management Specialist, you are a self-starter will work to support the commercial and partner relationships and report to the Senior Manager, Commercial Management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyses documents and contracts and prepares senior level briefing materials on issues related to Rapid Transit projects in both the negotiation and operations phases
- Conducts financial and contract analysis, and develops reports and presentations based on analytical findings to support planning and decision-making by Commercial Management leadership, Senior Management, and the Board
- Guides others in the performance of their day-to-day activities without direct supervisory responsibility
- Identifies, assesses, and recommends solutions for financial issues that impact Rapid Transit projects and/or contracts
- Manages relationships internal and external to Metrolinx to collaborate on processes and analysis related to contracts and operations of Rapid Transit projects
- Supports contract negotiations in collaboration with internal stakeholder; provides input to contract terms and conditions; oversees contract administration, and manages projects to ensure that contractors adhere to budgets and contract requirements
- Analyzes administrative, operational, and/or project-related processes and procedures, and develops and implements streamlined solutions for identified inefficiencies
- Prepares written correspondence with Rapid Transit vendors and operating partners to advise of non-conformance with contractual terms, identify escalation issues, financial reconciliation, and other commercial related items that needs to be formally communicated by the Commercial Management team
- Develops and maintains a strong network with transit authorities, government agencies, vendors, consultants and contractors to coordinate projects, set priorities and deadlines, exchange technical information, as well as, share best practices
- Provides regular updates to Commercial Management team on budgets and project status, identifies areas of potential concern, and advises commercial leadership, if contractors are in danger of default or non-compliance
Job Requirements:
- Completion of a degree in Engineering or Architecture, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Minimum six (6) years’ experience administering commercial contracts, and monitoring contractor compliance and performance against contract terms and conditions
- A valid driver’s licence is required to travel to different site locations, public meetings, etc. Must meet and maintain the corporate standard for a good driving record
- Experience with contract law and contract administration, including developing terms and conditions, quotations, negotiations, procurement, acquisitions, and dispute resolutions
- Organizational and analytical skills to coordinate many complex projects
