Job Description:

Reporting directly to the EVP Cargo and working in close cooperation with existing regional reporting structures, the VP Cargo Americas will have accountability and oversight for all cargo sales activity, revenue and yield development, growth planning and M&A opportunities across the region. In existing cargo locations, the role will have accountability for operational performance, safety and security, ensuring that all defined KPI targets are achieved in line with budget and performance specifications agreed with EVP Cargo, Regional Management and Cargo Station Managers.

Working with the EVP Cargo and cargo leadership team the role will also define cargo strategy and commercial activity including customer satisfaction at existing stations, new business targets and business development opportunities including organic growth, new station openings and potential acquisition targets.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Identifying opportunities for cargo growth including but not limited to; Opening new locations, identifying JV opportunities and M&A targets
  • Ensuring delivery of agreed performance targets and associated KPI’s at all locations within Europe.
  • Increasing sales activity within the region
  • Increasing revenue and existing yield from current customers as well as maximising capacity utilisation in existing locations and sourcing additional handling capacity in markets where operations are at maximum warehouse utilisation
  • Assisting the regional team and commercial teams in major cargo bids (RfP responses and speculative proposals), either at individual stations or with multiple-station opportunities.
  • Representing cargo as a Key Account Manager for specifically identified large scale existing customers or those with opportunity for growth.
  • Report any hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents or dangerous occurrences to their manager / supervisor, who will then follow the procedures contained in this manual.
  • Promoting best practice within our current cargo operations, working with the regional teams to drive performance levels and identify areas of improvement and further development.
  • Ensuring we have high quality management information with clearly identified metrics which allow us to monitor all elements and define their success.
  • Continually developing our cargo product, ensuring not only short-term success but keeping Menzies “ahead of the game” in the medium to long term.
  • Building customer relationships at local and regional levels to support retention of existing business and helping to secure new opportunities from existing customers.
  • Benchmarking against competitors’ offering whether that be local or regional competitors or self-handling options for airlines; and understanding our competitive position in all key geographical markets.
  • Identifying key productivity metrics and working with local station management to help drive delivery of budget targets
  • Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions whilst at work.
  • Co-operate with their manager / supervisor in order to allow them to perform or comply with any legal requirements imposed on the company.
  • Not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided by the company in the interests of health, safety or welfare reasons.
  • Inform their manager / supervisor of any work situation, equipment or activity that represents a serious or immediate danger to health and safety.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience of working in complex organizations with a global footprint and diverse structures.
  • Degree-level education highly desirable.
  • Demonstrable cargo product or business development experience
  • Demonstrable experience of the air cargo market.
