Job Responsibilities:
Serve as Actuary in the Office of Housing, reviewing and monitoring the contract for the independent actuarial study of the Mutual Mortgage Insurance Fund, conducting in-house actuarial studies of the various FHA Insurance Funds to determine the risk of loss associated with various programs, and assessing the adequacy of insurance premiums relative to anticipated losses.
Conduct analyses of the actuarial/experience of sub-portfolios to define insurance risk associated with loan products, property and borrower types, geographic concentrations, and other factors that could affect the actuarial soundness of Insurance Fund operations.
Establish estimates of FHA MMI Fund capital reserve account adequacy, and under a wide range of possible future economic conditions.
Analyze the relationship of FHA-insured loan performance to economic data and trends and to the performance of non-FHA-insured mortgage loans, and use such knowledge to forecast future outcomes.
Draft economic reports or research summaries and presentations, or work on one or more components of larger and more complex reports such as the annual report to Congress on the financial status of the MMI Fund.
Job Requirements:
The official duty station for this position will be in Washington, District of Columbia. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
– Performs research in the specialized area of actuarial and statistical analysis with the objective of developing and maintaining financially sound insurance pricing and associated operational risk mitigants;
