Job Description:

This position is located in the Division of Risk Management Supervision, Atlanta Regional Office of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support in the areas of IT examinations.

Job Responsibilities:

The position is that of Examination Specialist (IT) with assignment to a Regional Office. Under the direction of an Assistant Regional Director, the incumbent supervises and is principally responsible for activities related to IT examinations and other IT related business in the Region. Primary assignments will be IT examination activities in the Regional Office and in the field with ancillary assignment to commercial examination report review and other Regional Office review work. At the full performance level, major duties include:
Reviews IT examination reports and related correspondence for substance to insure the report conclusions are supported by the data and that the Examiner properly presented recommendations. Identifies IT centers and services which do or may present supervisory problems, determines the extent of supervision needed, after discussion with Supervisor, makes recommendation to the Regional Director for correction and prepares summaries and reports to be sent to the Washington Office and maintained in the IT Examination Tracking system.
After discussion with Supervisor, provides advice counsel and guidance to field Bank Examiners (IT), Bank Examiners on special IT assignments and Case Managers on IT examinations, and on the coverage and preparation of IT reports.
Prepares a summary of findings for permanent records and prepares cover letters to the Washington Office, State Banking Department(S), other Federal Supervisory Agencies and the IT center or servicer for transmitting copies of the reports with a summary of significant aspects of the case. Initiates follow-up of data center deficiencies and handling of IT correspondence and telephone inquiries in the Regional Office. Responsible for maintaining IT Examination Tracking System.
Meets with and participates in meeting with financial Directors and high level banking officials in IT problem situations.
Participates in FDIC and interagency conferences and symposiums, professional IS seminars and conferences and education programs. May serve as instructor in the FDIC’s various IT training course.

CG-13: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing insured depository institution examinations and evaluating the safety, soundness, and posed insurance risk of a financial institution; and conducting information technology (IT) examinations of financial institutions and/or data centers using a variety of software applications.
