Job Description:

Under limited supervision, the Manager – Fleet Operations manages the maintenance, repairs, and operations of city vehicles and equipment.This position will develop and focus on five (5), ten (10), and fifteen (15) year strategic growth plan, optimizing the current operations, and casting the long term vision of excellence.
Examples of Duties
Determines the replacement of assets; receives quotes from vendors on possible asset purchases; communicates with city departments to determine what assets are needed for the operation.
Processes, reviews, and distributes weekly fuel downloads and exception reports; updates Purchasing and Finance on fuel purchase monthly; reviews Parts Audit reports; reviews other reports as requested by any City department.
Monitors parts operations and inventory process updates, shop operations and productivity; performs counseling and reviews; sublets repairs; recommends money saving strategies; determines training needs for organization.

Job Responsibilities:

Creates budget for the month and year by running and reviewing data from the vehicle maintenance system; applies mathematics and reading skills; compiles and sends information to the budget department; sends monthly reports to Purchasing and Finance for billing.
Monitors, reports, and evaluate trends relative to future repair needs; compiling and reporting repair costs; preparing annual budgets; coordinating vehicle and equipment purchases; and overseeing the City-wide fuel program.
Handles fuel programs by training and communicating with Department Fuel Auditors; reviews and distributes fuel reports; updates and maintains both websites; and orders fuel cards for department users
Experience and Training
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university.
Five (5) or more years of experience in fleet management or a similar position. Additional work experience in a related field may substitute for education on a year to year basis.
Certificates and Licenses Required
Must have or be able to obtain ASE Master Certification, or equivalent within 6 months of being hired.
