Job Description:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for the timely and efficient procurement of equipment, materials, supplies and services to support Macquarie Infrastructure Corporation (MIC). Demonstrating a broad-based knowledge of all aspects of the sourcing and procurement process, the position is expected to perform market and supplier analysis, facilitate the bid/proposal process, develop and use supplier evaluation criteria, conduct negotiations, formulate purchase orders and contract documents, manage supplier performance including issue resolution, and partner cross-functionally with stakeholders to ensure optimal supplier performance at lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) for the business.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitates competitive bidding process
- Conducts reverse auctions as appropriate
- Collaborates and communicates with key stakeholders
- Develop and maintain product/service, industry and market knowledge
- Monitors and evaluates supplier performance, including supplier development and process/cost improvement
- Develop a world class supply base capable of delivering key objectives
- Drives supplier selection process
- Conducts supplier negotiations and develops purchase orders and contracts
- Drive process improvement for internal efficiencies
- Incorporate safety into daily work ethic and buying decision process
- Drive cost savings vs. approved baselines
- Provides liaison to Legal team for Terms & Conditions issue resolution
- Provides support to Procurement team in pricing and contract development
- Issues and administers Request for Proposals (RFP), including eRFX process
- Assures contract compliance is maintained
- Manages supplier relationships and administers supplier contracts
- Perform supply market and supplier analysis
- Provides procurement expertise on cross functional teams, including input to spend category strategies
Job Requirements:
- Ability to adapt to complex supply chain issues where an in-depth evaluation or analysis of statistical, commercial or technical data is required; capable of performing complex negotiations with suppliers, and performing financial, technical, commercial and performance evaluations of suppliers
- Passion for reducing costs – enthusiasm for driving optimum business outcomes
- BBA / BS / BA preferred, or minimum 5 years relevant procurement/contracting experience
- General business knowledge and acumen, with broad-based knowledge of sourcing, procurement, contracting and supplier management process
- Demonstrated understanding of contract Terms & Conditions; capable of handling most complex legal problems, obtaining legal counsel as necessary
- Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills; capable of facilitating cross-functional teams
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft office capabilities (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity; ability to manage confidential information
- Good process orientation and demonstrated Continuous Improvement skills; Lean or Six Sigma experience preferred
- Strong written and oral communication; ability to negotiate and persuade others
